Make A Quick Recovery From The Flu

Make A Quick Recovery From The Flu
November 18, 2017AdminHealthy LivingImmunity SupportInfluenza

Flu season is here once again. The first cases of Influenza were reported in Yakima county several months ago. While the common cold usually begins with a sore throat, flu symptoms can present fast and furious.

Influenza is a viral infection, which means antibiotics will provide no relief from the illness. Over-the-counter medications are usually the go to for relief of its symptoms, but can sometimes exacerbate them as well.

Chinese medicine focuses on prevention by strengthening and balancing the body.  During this time of year, we are constantly coming into contact with viruses.  It is our immune system’s job to fight viruses and pathogens that are trying to enter our bodies.  Strong immune systems will react swiftly, destroying the virus before we can even register flu symptoms.

If the virus overpowers our initial fighting response, the key to making a speedy recovery from the flu resides in strengthening the immune system, which medications will not do. Acupuncture uses specific points that stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal. The insertion of an acupuncture needles at these points triggers the release of natural chemicals, produced by the body, that help to improve the function of the immune system.  Studies indicate acupuncture can increase our infection fighting white blood cells.  Other points may also be stimulated to help reduce or completely alleviate symptoms, such as congestion, the chills, and body aches.

Your local acupuncturist will tailor a special treatment plan for you whether it is for prevention or to help recover faster. This may combine the use of special herbal preparations along with your actual treatments. Many people feel immediate relief from symptoms.  Nasal passages often open right after targeted sinus points are stimulated.
