Battling Digestive Issues During The Holidays?

Battling Digestive Issues During The Holidays?
December 24, 2017AdminDigestive ConditionsHealthy Living

With all the big meals prepared as part of our holiday celebrations, digestive issues are a common complaint during this time of year. Whether they stem from stress or overindulgence, the discomfort experienced can be unpleasant to oneself and also those around them.

Fortunately, if you find that you are experiencing an unsettled gut, there are many avenues of relief that you can pursue. The first of these involves balancing flora within your digestive system by introducing a course of daily probiotics. One of the best methods, however, does not come in the form of a capsule; instead, we recommend that you try drinking plain kefir, a fermented milk product that is similar to yogurt, with your breakfast. Drinking kefir is a healthy and sure way to deliver billions of positive live bacteria into your system to destroy harmful yeasts and other negative flora that may be at the root of your problem. It is usually available at your local grocery store near the yogurts.

Several recent studies have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of acupuncture in helping with symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). The World Health Organization has indicated that several clinical trials have demonstrated acupuncture as an effective method for easing symptoms which occurring with acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and gastritis. Such evidence has been convincing enough that Johns Hopkins Integrative Medicine and Digestive Center utilize acupuncture to treat a plethora digestive issues (among other medical problems) and finds great success with doing so.

The holidays are supposed to be a pleasant, celebratory time of year. If your gut has been putting a damper on your ability to enjoy the season, consider a combined approach of probiotics, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal remedies to balance your digestive system.
